Possessing “good bones” and great views, but lacking architectural interest, this River North condominium was treated to a beautiful, new makeover by JAFFE A+I.  Our client wanted to improve upon the developer’s finishes, achieve a greater sense of flow and enhance the aesthetics of the condo while sticking to a budget.

With this in mind, JAFFE A+I created an open, loft-like floor plan.  By replacing standard height doors with frameless, floor to ceiling doors, and employing the use of hidden doors with specialty hardware, we opened up the interior and also managed to cleverly conceal storage space. What you won’t see in the photos are the owner’s “extras,” because everything is neatly tucked behind doors and panels.

To reveal the amazing view upon entering the apartment, we added a full-height glass panel in the wall between the entry hall and second bedroom where none previously existed. For privacy, a concealed, automated roller shade was added in the ceiling above the window for when guests occupy the room.

JAFFE A+I worked in concert with the owner making intentional selections and choices to maximize every square inch of the condominium.  Everything was done to support openness, elegance and uncluttered simplicity in the space. The effect of the renovation is a serene, sophisticated apartment that now reflects the owner’s tastes and personality.
